What is Gumtree?
Gumtree.com.au is a free local online noticeboard that connects over 1 million Australians every month to buy, sell and find anything from cars and jobs, furniture, rentals and pets in their local community.

It is FREE to post an ad on Gumtree and super simple (no registration required!).
Who is Gumtree?
Here at Gumtree we're passionate about doing what's best for our community of users, so our focus is on keeping it FREE and easy to post ads, and on supporting individuals rather than businesses. We like getting to know the people that make up our communities, and to help you all get to know each other, so we hold local events now and then like yoga, trivia and BBQs. How do I use Gumtree?
Buying tips
  • Do your homework and shop around - check the product description, type of model and the retail price of similar goods
  • Narrow your search results using the filters on the left
  • After asking the seller questions meet them face to face
Selling tips
  • Add a photo to double your response rate
  • Improve the quality of your contacts by adding detail about your item, like brand, model, condition, colour and dimensions
  • Only sell to people that will meet you in person
Safety tips
  • Always meet the advertisers or buyer face-to-face, in a public place
  • Never send or wire money. Always meet face-to-face and pay/receive money in cash.
  • Use common sense - if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is!

Multiple sales

I have used Gumtree for 9 sales to date. I have had good genuine enquiries and I feel I have priced my items to sell. A good write up is the key and always place a photo. Be flexible on the final amount and each of my buyers bought straight away no mucking about.

I think the people I have met on Gumtree are more genuine and happy on a fair price upfront. Hope it stays that way
